I was watching that Shop Assistants vid yesterday I love their version. I'm staggered by the lack of comments and general respect for one of the greatest songwriters in pop history. Weird. Maybe it's because she didn't have a penis? How thoughtless.

If I'd remembered at the time, I'd have put the X-Ocettes on my Ellie tribute CD. I'm sure there will be a pt 2...

I'm actually quite shocked at how few people seem moved at Ellie Greenwich's passing. One of pop music's greatest songwriters, full stop.

I think it's because most people didn't realise she was still alive.

Maybe they're moved but they just haven't told you that they are?

yeah, of course. but folk are normally fairly quick to comment. it's usually possible to judge from that.

I seem to have lots of senior gentlemen... that'll be it. That Raindrops album was on constant play when I was Pipette-ing it. That was the benchmark. Didn't get there, of course, but it's good to dream!

Everett, you'd be moved to hear Boozy Suzy's (The Lost Girls) cover of Be My Baby.

my friend,Pete Connelly, wrote: Ellie Greenwich. The greatest ever. This might be controversial to say, but she meant a thousand times more to me than Michael Jackson ever has. Thank you so much and I love you and your music and we'll miss you!
    i couldn't agree more.
