This isn't an entirely accurate representation of my listening habits - it discounts most everything from my iPod and at work - but it gives you an idea.
This is a snapshot, taken over the past three months. You have to understand that it excludes iPod plays, CDs (at home and in the car), work plays, etc...but whatever. It reads like a pretty good list to me.
Bit of a strange chart, this one. I've been trying to put my iTunes library in some sort of order, and think it might have got skewed cos of that. Whatever. Can't deny I adore everything and everyone in it. No work on, so nothing present cos of that.
Ah but my entire being has been destroyed by the immaculate compilation A John Waters Christmas - in particular, the uber-cutsie 'Santa Claus Is A Black Man' by Akim & The Teddy Vann Production Company - and I can barely function right now, but damn it. Here it is anyway. Hope you can dig it. (The R means I was listening to it for work-related reasons, and clicking on the hypertext will take you through to the review - usually.)
A day ago, I didn't even know what a sub-woofer was. Now, I can't believe I've lasted so many years without owning one. Man alive. I want these floorboards to VIBRATE! And if you haven't done so already, I'd totally recommend checking out the Elizabeth Archer link below.
This week's chart is based on this week's plays - and the position of Mr Van Zandt at the top of the pile is more a reflection that Domino were kind enough to send me seven full-length reissues the other day than any late-come conversion to bearded 70s rock. I'm not even sure how much I like him - but I sure as skanking know how I much I love The Skatalites, Theo Beckford, Terry Hall, Susan Cadogan, Rhoda Dakar and the rest of the gang.
Again, this list is somewhat weighted by the fact I've been writing about many of these for other folk. Again, there's an R listed next to those ones, for that reason. Again, there's a gigantic dust cloud outside my window, fucking with my brain.
Ah yes. It's all change now. I've actually been commissioned to write a bunch of reviews and features for the first time since I can remember when. I'll make it easy for you. I'll shove an R next to the ones I've been listening to for that reason...
This chart is pretty funny. Who knows what demons I exorcise in the wee hours of the morning when I can't sleep, alone with my headphones? You can probably guess which albums I purchased and which came free, unasked-for. Still. I like it. These, according to Last FM, which frankly ain't so reliable, are my 20 Most Listened to Artists, Last Week.
This isn't exactly a fair indication of what I listen to - most of that takes place on my iPod Touch on the way to, and at, college - but it does give a fair indication of what I listen to in the presence of other people. Or, alternately, on my headphones when I can't sleep at 4.50am.
