She's got a new album out, recorded with the guy from My Bloody Valentine who isn't Kevin Shields.
I've been enjoying it. It's soothing, smooth, soporific, perfect dope-smoking late-night music... wait, this is Hope Sandoval we're talking about. You already know what to expect and if you don't then there's absolutely no reason why you should be wanting to read about her new album when you could be listening to She Hangs Brightly, Mazzy Star's bruised velvet debut, instead. (Shrugs.) I mean, it's fine but really there's no way it'll be as fine as all that.
Remind me one day to tell you the story of how our plane from NYC to Boston got hit by lightning as part of our convoluted mission to track the band down...
Oh, anyway. I'm only really mentioning all this because it gives me the excuse to post this.
P.S. And before anyone says anything... yes, weren't Opal great?
P.P.S. A gold star to the first person to name the link between this blog entry and this. Oh wait, I've just given it away.

Blech, this girl is the musical equivalent of Ambien, puts you to sleep, but maybe not for long enough. When Opal split up and this girl entered the picture, it felt like a cheap imitation, no soul or spook to it. Too bad Kendra Smith dropped out, I really love her.
