Um. Grohl and Love sanctioned this one for the new Guitar Hero. So respect due to Grohl and Love then. Fucking corporate cock-sucking memory-destroying fret-wanking MTV-supporting fame-chasing money-grabbing grave-turning publicity-loving vacuous spoiled jaded cunting rock whores.
Inspired by the current Facebook thread - here are 50 bands I've been fortunate enough to see live in concert. If a number is listed in brackets, that's the number of times I can remember seeing them - but it's probably more. Indeed, I've seen most of these bands/artists on multiple occasions.
This post is dedicated to those tireless champions of free speech on the Drowned In Sound message boards who see nothing wrong with using an offensive word or phrase as long as everyone else does.
Presumably, next week we'll see them using the word "nigger" everywhere - unless, of course, not enough people use that word as an insult anymore.
This final part is taken direct from the Sigur Rós message board (edited). What's interesting is that it's much more good-humoured and well-argued than the vast majority of the "Outraged of Hackney" comments on the Drowned In Sound threads. You'd think it would be the other way round. Respect due this handful of Sigur Rós fans, then.
This edit is from the follow-up thread on the Drowned In Sound message board, in response to a post on my PhD blog. They used my words without permission (and shorn of context), so I thought I'd return the favour.
Some of you might have blinked and missed this. A recent link to a recent post on the Drowned In Sound message boards caused some people to get very hot under the collar.
They talk a fine talk (albeit one that has its roots in - yawn - 'classic' contemporary criticism). They walk a fine walk (articles on the 'death' of the small town gig poster and why Grazia is better than the NME).
Christ, don't these fucking broadsheet hacks give over banging on about 'how it ain't what it used to be in my day' and 'it was all fields round here me lad'?
