ET Recommends - 51: The Hot Toddies

Just pulled this one in as a last-minute replacement for my new Bust column...and couldn't resist sharing them with you, they're so great - like a sharp-tongued, velvet-voiced Oakland CA sister band to my forgotten Canadian heartthrobs The Diskettes. (And they even have a song about Seattle!)

Wild Beasts interview

It's Laneway nest week. That's exciting. They've got several artists I'd like to have a peek at - including Bridezilla, Florence And The Machine, The XX, Daniel Johnston and Wild Beasts. Rockin'!

ET Recommends - 50: The Art Museums

I kind of had to give a shout-out to these guys.

ET Recommends - 49: The Dacios

Some more great grungy, throaty Australian rock cut from the same tattered cloth as The Drones, simple as that. Recommendation courtesy of Loene Carmen.

ET Recommends - 48: Black Candy

Bangs alive, but I love Facebook sometimes. Throws up unexpected, glorious music from around the world. Speaking of which... you have checked out this blog already, right?

ET Recommends - 47: The Unthanks

I'm usually extremely cynical about this sort of music, these arrangements, these voices. I mean, for starters, this is way too Jools Holland territory for me.

Hitler finds out that the Tote Hotel is closed.

Same old clip, but still very funny and poignant.

ET Recommends - 46: Haze XXL

Now, I know that those No Anchor dudes are going to appreciate this, even if no one else does.

ET Recommends - 45: Complaints Choir of Tokyo

Susie O'Neill recommended this on Twitter with the words, "This lovely vid of Tokyo Complaints Choir throws off the stereotype of the Japanese as meak  mild".

ET Recommends - 44: Malvina Reynolds

I don't know the first thing about this lady, only that Jessica Hopper recommended her on Twitter with the words, "How did I manage to get this far along and not know Malvina Reynolds? This song kills me".

Rowland S. Howard R.I.P.

Fuck, but I'd forgotten how many great records (not just The Birthday Party/Boys Next Door etc) he played on - especially those incredible Jacobites sides. I believe he has a wake happening this Thursday in St Kilda, everyone welcome.
