I had a similar discussion about food writers. Blogging can encourage bad writing habits. People don't learn to edit and so, don't learn to separate their good writing from bad. Pre-internet, if you wanted to make an opinion about music, but didn't work for the press, you did a fanzine. By it's nature, a fanzine meant that people had to learn how to edit their own writing. There are many superb bloggers out there, but you need to wade through a whole bunch of crap to find them.
