This is in anticipation of them finally sending me a copy of their album.
Solo, singer Scrappy Hood was one of my favourite live acts of 2007-8: genial, raucous, blessed with the same flair for songwriting that once made Squeeze so fine, and with a capacity for drink and adventure that I could only look fondly upon. He writes the sort of smart, lovable songs that you find yourself howling along to after one full frothing pint and no food. I've got a collection of his demos somewhere that I can't help suspecting the album won't best: equal parts Patrik Fitzgerald and Television Personalities, with a little of the bling of Mike Skinner thrown in. We loved it passionately and briefly for about two weeks and then moved on. So maybe Scrappy is a little smart-arse Mockney and corny and concerned with what passes for the zeitgeist in London and Brighton but fuck it. He's FUN!
Milk Kan have got a song on the recent Patrik Fitzgerald tribute All Sewn Up which - Benjamin Zephaniah's take on 'Work. Rest. Play. Reggae' aside - is the most conceptually perfect thing there: chirpy, cheeky, angry and sad.
Remind me to tell you about Patrik and the tribute later.
And if that bloody Milk Kan CD doesn't finally show up this week, I'm taking this entry down, y' slack bastards.
P.S. Less than 12 hours after this entry was made, it finally turned up! Yay!

I did all the artwork for that album for free and I STILL haven't got a fuckin' copy!!...downloaded in on uTorrent the week before it came out anyway...
