Defining the enemy 4

On many levels, this is the worst music I've heard all year.

First, it's a Dolly Parton song. A good one, too. The singer clearly hasn't heard the original and takes as his cue Whitney Houston's fearsomely soulless version. Whole treatises have been written around why the Houston version is representative of a particular horrendous decade. You all know that. What we have here is a 10th generation copy by another technically competent singer, one who values 'hitting the note' over inner fire. Does being over-wrought equate with emotion? I fucking hope not.

The fact this video was brought to my attention on Facebook by butter-wouldn't-melt alt. singer Mary-Lou Lord - presumably because she thinks it's noteworthy - makes me tremble for whole sections of our society.

This is so, so WRONG - and some people are just oblivious to the fact, blinded by the razzle, deafened by the dazzle, eternally looking to 'the man' for approval.

Damn it.

Here, go look at something nice instead.
