I've finally got myself a new desktop I can listen to music on. AND PLAY RECORDS!
So I've wiped my old Last FM account clean and started a new one to celebrate. I'm sure I'll be bored with it within a few weeks but for now let's celebrate with a extremely skewed Top 10. I reckon this might be the very first - and last - time you ever see the rather perversely charming, not to mention borderline unlistenable, Door And The Window-esque Danny And The Parkins Sisters at the top of a chart, for example. From San Francisco, apparently - early 80s. And If even such a renowned authority in the art of irritating audiences as Bruno DeSmartass from Flipper can refer to them as "a truly singular blend of irritating, grating, interesting and meaningful" then you know something's going on.
Their revamped MySpace page is here. I'd recommend the disinterested babble of voices behind their chilling and atonal live version of 'Pay For Love' myself.
Oh, and here's the chart.
1. Danny And The Parkins Sisters
2. Kraftwerk
3. The Vaselines
4. Tubeway Army
5. Gino Washington
6. Jad Fair
7. Neverever
8. Phil Wilson
9. The Gin Club
9. Mountain Man
9. Brilliant Colors
