Now, I know that those No Anchor dudes are going to appreciate this, even if no one else does.
This is some fucking freaking sweet guitar and drowned noise and heavy instrumental sound and calamitous metal from the head dude at Amphetamine Reptile Records, Tom Hazelmyer, ex-Halo of Flies. (He makes dementoid toys and designs books now. Nice.) It's like all your darkest nightmares about watching the God Bullies and Cex and Big Black come back to bite you hard in the flabbiest part of your flabby underbelly. It doesn't stop. It doesn't end. I've been listening to its warped, wrenched groove for three hours now on the headphones, and it's still mutating...

Thanks for the heads up ET, this is awesome. Halo of Flies remain one of the best gtr damage bands I've heard, their version of Creation's How Does It Feel was definitive.
ReplyDeleteWow! I only found time to catch up with your blog yesterday. I read this and went out after work and bought this sight unseen. It's great! Kind of like a soundtrack to Aliens set in the middle of Rio's Carnivale! Thanks for the heads up E! Might wipe the dust off my Halo Of Flies record this weekend too. Alex.

I've always respected Amphetamine Reptile because it's Helios Creed's label, and he isn't the kind of musician for the faint of heart.

Good, Steve. To listen to Haze's new stuff click on the blue writing. You coming to QLD? Be wonderful to see you. Feels like we need to start an insurrection again.
